Ciudad Juárez athletes achieve success in MMA and international kickboxing

Athletes from Ciudad Juárez achieved significant success in recent regional and international sporting competitions. In Berlin, Germany, Luis Enrique Ávila secured a silver medal in the K1 -65kg category at the World Kickboxing and Karate Union 2026 Championship, competing against over 1,800 participants from 40 countries.

In the 2026 National MMA Championship held in Veracruz, the Ciudad Juárez delegation earned 23 medals, including 10 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze. These results helped place Chihuahua at the top of the national medal standings and earned several athletes spots in the upcoming Pan American Championship.

In local chess, Sebastián Flores Pacheco won the Weekly Chess Tournament in Ciudad Juárez with an undefeated record of 5.5 out of 6 points. Additionally, the municipal government through IPACULT announced the 'Festival Cultural 60 y Más' to celebrate the artistic talents of senior citizens.
