Ciudad Juárez authorities identify 283 bodies from Plenitud crematorium
Authorities in Ciudad Juárez have identified 283 of the 386 bodies found at the Plenitud crematorium in the Granjas Polo Gamboa neighborhood. This represents a 73 percent identification rate, leaving 103 individuals still unidentified. Forensic experts have recently accelerated efforts through a genetic profiling campaign involving collaboration with local families.
Legal actions are progressing against several funeral homes linked to the incident. At least 166 families have filed fraud complaints after services were not rendered as contracted. More than 79 investigation files have been judicialized. While owners of Camino al Cielo and Montes Los Olivos reached reparatory agreements with victims, owners of Protecto Deco and Luz Divina are currently facing criminal proceedings. A hearing for the owner of Latino Americana is scheduled for December 10.
