Ciudad Juárez awards first Municipal Ecological Merit prizes

The Ciudad Juárez City Council held the first edition of the Municipal Recognition for Ecological Merit to honor individuals, associations, and companies contributing to environmental protection and sustainability. During the session presided over by Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel, winners were awarded a 10,000 peso economic stimulus.

The awards were distributed across several categories. Ecología Con-Ciencia A. C. received the Environmental Association of the Year award, while Ana Gloria Prado Flores was recognized for Environmental Youth. Gari Cd. Juárez won for Fauna Welfare and Protection, and Servicompactos de Juárez was named Sustainable Business.

Other recipients included Zaira Yerenia Castillo for Environmental Education and Culture, Elizabeth Gabaldón Rojas for Green Community Action, and Alondra Mena Sáenz for Environmental Innovation and Technology. A special, one-time category for Environmental Childhood was awarded to José Armando Jurado Román for his development of an environmental care robot. The initiative was proposed by Councilwoman Fernanda Ávalos Medina.
