Ciudad Juárez approves economic, cultural, and environmental measures

The City Council of Ciudad Juárez has approved several measures focused on economic development, culture, and environmental protection. Key decisions include a ten-year extension of the extraordinary contribution on business properties to fund the construction of the Centro de Exposiciones y Convenciones (CEC). Additionally, the council unanimously approved a posthumous recognition for the artist Juan Gabriel, awarding him 'Las Llaves de la Ciudad' in a ceremony scheduled for August 28.

To address environmental concerns, the council authorized the reactivation of the Ecological Agents program. Starting in September, four inspectors will be dedicated to responding to citizen reports regarding illegal waste dumping, trash burning, and air and water pollution. This follows recent scrutiny of a metal recycling facility in the Satélite neighborhood, which was fined approximately 650,000 pesos for operating without valid environmental and civil protection permits.

In other regional developments, the Chihuahua Secretary of Rural Development has launched an initiative to promote local agroindustrial products through exhibition modules in Chihuahua and Ciudad Juárez. Meanwhile, infrastructure works on the Los Nogales and De las Industrias overpass in Chihuahua City have surpassed 90 percent completion and are entering their final stages.
