Ciudad Juárez formal employment drops by over 40,000 jobs
Job loss in Ciudad Juárez has significant psychological and economic implications. A survey by the recruitment platform OCC found that 47 percent of its 3,195 users experienced emotional and mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety, and anguish, during their job search.
Economic data highlights a decline in formal employment in the region. Records from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) show that formal positions in Ciudad Juárez dropped from a peak of 515,633 in March 2023 to 474,781 by July 2026, representing a loss of over 40,000 formal jobs.
