Ciudad Juárez hosts “Charreada bajo la Luna” traditional event

The “Charreada bajo la Luna” event was formally inaugurated at the Lienzo Charro Adolfo López Mateos in Ciudad Juárez, bringing together national exponents of charrería from various parts of Mexico.

The event featured women on horseback performing the nine traditional suertes of charrería, alongside escaramuzas who demonstrated precision and equestrian coordination. During the ceremony, municipal authorities and organizers presented medals to the participating escaramuzas.

Mayor Héctor Ortiz Orpinel emphasized that charrería is part of Mexico’s Cultural Heritage and stated that his administration would continue to promote sports and cultural activities to preserve national traditions. He noted that sports, education, and culture are essential tools for transforming the city. Additionally, commemorative buckles were awarded to Juan Escalante, director of the Municipal Institute of Sport and Physical Culture, and Karla Escalante, president of the Sports Commission, for their support of local sports and tradition preservation.
