Ciudad Juárez man dies following suspected rickettsiosis infection

A man has died in Ciudad Juárez following a suspected case of rickettsiosis. According to neighbors, the man sought medical attention at the Hospital General after feeling unwell following a tick bite, but he was reportedly denied hospitalization because he was not officially registered and lacked medical insurance. He was only provided with medication before returning home, where his condition worsened, leading to his death on August 31.

If the cause of death is officially confirmed as rickettsiosis, he would be the 31st victim of the disease in Ciudad Juárez for 2026. Local ecology officials have coordinated with health authorities to perform fumigation in the Riberas del Bravo neighborhood to control the spread of parasites.
