Ciudad Juárez officials and Canacintra discuss industry security and infrastructure

During a dialogue session between the Ciudad Juárez municipal government and the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra), officials and experts addressed infrastructure investments and security challenges facing the local manufacturing sector.

Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel detailed several municipal projects, including a 300 million peso investment in an intelligent traffic light system for 161 intersections and the rehabilitation of 48 main avenues. He noted that these public works are being conducted without incurring public debt and serve as part of a broader strategy to improve safety and reduce crime rates.

However, security experts highlighted critical issues impacting the maquiladora industry. Carlos Sánchez, former president of the Association of Security Companies in Ciudad Juárez, identified extortion in the supply chain, unsafe transit routes for female workers, and drug trafficking within industrial parks as primary concerns. Sánchez proposed a collaborative model based on governance, traceability, and data-driven decision-making to help authorities address these fragmented security challenges.
