Ciudad Juárez opens boutique for women victims of violence
The Marisela Escobedo Ortiz Women's Justice Center (CEJUM) has inaugurated its first boutique in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Managed through the center's social and economic empowerment department, the space provides free clothing, footwear, accessories, and basic essential items to women victims of violence and their children.
Tatiana Carreón Lara, General Director of CEJUM, stated that the project addresses the needs of women who must flee their homes immediately due to extreme violence, leaving them in highly vulnerable economic and material conditions. Silvana Fernández Meléndez, General Coordinator of CEJUM in Ciudad Juárez, noted that many women arrive at the center under high risk, unable to return home because their aggressors have identified them.
The boutique is located within the institution's facilities on Sanders Avenue in the Santa Rosa neighborhood. Access is exclusive to the center's users to ensure a secure and tranquil environment for those seeking assistance.
