Ciudad Juárez prosecutor delays trial for ‘La Diabla’ feminicide case

The criminal process against Martha Alicia M. A., known as ‘La Diabla’, remains stalled in Ciudad Juárez more than a year after the murder of Leslie Godínez Carrillo. Despite being linked to the case for aggravated feminicide and attempted aggravated homicide, the State Attorney General's Office has not yet formally presented the accusation required to move the case toward an oral trial.

According to legal counsel for the victim's family, there has been no notification regarding the formal accusation or a date for the intermediate hearing. Martha Alicia M. A. remains in pretrial detention. Investigations suggest she participated in the planning of the crime, which involved the killing of Leslie and the subsequent extraction of her baby. Two other women, Jhoselin T. F. and Evelyn Bethzayda A. M., are also linked to the case and remain in custody.
