Ciudad Juárez accounts for 84% of kidnappings in Chihuahua
Ciudad Juárez accounts for the vast majority of kidnappings reported in the state of Chihuahua during the first seven months of 2026. According to data from the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública (SESNSP), the city recorded 42 kidnappings involving 86 victims.
This represents 84 percent of all kidnapping cases and 91.5 percent of all victims in Chihuahua during this period. In contrast, the state capital, Chihuahua, recorded only three cases. The most prevalent method identified is extortionate kidnapping, which accounted for 42 cases statewide and 38 cases within Ciudad Juárez.
Victim demographics in Juárez show that 66 of the 86 victims were men and 19 were women. The highest number of victims in the city occurred in June, with 22 reported cases.
