Ciudad Lineal festivals face controversy amid programming changes

The Ciudad Lineal district in Madrid is hosting its annual festivities through September 14. The musical lineup at the Avenida de las Trece Rosas fairgrounds includes performances by Cepeda, Nacha Pop, and La Década Prodigiosa. Other scheduled events include the 47th edition of the La Elipa Popular Race, animal protection workshops, and a Michael Jackson tribute.

However, local neighborhood and cultural associations have raised complaints regarding the management of the La Elipa festivities. These groups allege that the Municipal Board unilaterally published the program, resulting in the suppression of traditional activities such as the 'Ruta de la Tapa' and certain cultural concerts.

Additionally, associations have criticized the administration for denying the installation of a 'Punto Violeta'—a resource for preventing and supporting victims of gender-based violence—and for increasing administrative requirements for non-profit entities participating in the celebrations.
