Ciudad Madero authorities alert public as rains displace crocodiles

Heavy rainfall in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, has caused rising lagoon levels, displacing crocodiles into residential areas. Authorities recently secured a specimen measuring approximately three meters in length. Civil Protection has urged residents to avoid contact with the animals and to report sightings via 911.

Simultaneously, local officials are monitoring a weather system in the Gulf of Mexico that has a 90 percent probability of cyclonic development. Mayor Erasmo González Robledo stated that while the system may move toward the southern United States, it is not currently expected to make a direct impact on the southern Tamaulipas coast.

Emergency services, including the Mexican Navy and the Secretariat of National Defense, are maintaining surveillance. In Ciudad Madero, crews are working to drain accumulated water and repair infrastructure, such as a sinkhole on Adolfo López Mateos Boulevard, to maintain access to hospitals and schools.
