Ciudad Real and Petrer open municipal summer pool season

Municipal swimming pools across two Spanish cities began their summer season in June. In Ciudad Real, all four municipal facilities – Rey Juan Carlos, Playa del Vicario, Puerta de Santa María and Valverde – opened simultaneously for the first time, extended hours to 23:00 at Rey Juan Carlos and a continued indoor pool schedule through mid‑August. The launch coincided with a Family Water Day offering free inflatables and a special €1 fee for youths up to 25, funded by an investment of more than €377,000 for lighting, safety and accessibility improvements. The city recorded a record 107,000 users last summer and aims to exceed that figure.

In Petrer, the municipal pools will operate from 22 June to 6 September with weekday hours of 12:00‑20:30 and extended weekend and August timings of 11:00‑20:30. Admission is €2 for minors under 18 and seniors, €3 for adults, with season passes ranging from €23 to €37. Tickets are sold online; cash is not accepted. Security measures include 24‑hour video surveillance and mandatory adult accompaniment for users under 14. The indoor pool at the San Fernando sports centre remains open until 17 July.
