Ciudad Real celebrates Pandorga anthem and San Pantaleón festivals
Javier Segovia, a cantautor from Ciudad Real, wrote the song "¡Pandorga, mi pueblo cantará, Pandorga!" in 1973. The piece was later adopted in 1996 by the municipal corporation as the official hymn of the annual Pandorga celebration held each 31 July, a tradition that draws residents from across the province.
In the nearby pedanía of Valverde, the festivities honoring San Pantaleón began with an opening ceremony featuring a speech by Antonia Romero, president of the local retirees’ association. Mayor of Ciudad Real Francisco Cañizares and pedanía mayor Manuela Herrera attended, together with municipal representatives. The program includes the proclamation of festival queens, sports competitions, a foam party, and a concluding musical evening, extending through Monday 27 July.
