Ciudad Real Council Sets New Local Holidays for 2027

The Ciudad Real municipal plenary approved, by unanimous vote, two new local holidays for 2027: Monday 17 May, coinciding with Pentecost and the Virgin of Alarcos, and Saturday 31 July, the day of the Pandorga festival. The July holiday will replace the previous local holiday on 22 August, which fell on a Sunday.

During the same session the council authorized a credit amendment of €1.43 million to finance various municipal initiatives, including €20 000 for celiac disease aid, €20 000 for vehicle tax‑benefit information, €25 000 for emergency aid, €500 000 for cultural centre equipment, €273 000 for sport supplies, and €300 000 for housing assistance. The governing party’s spokesperson Guillermo Arroyo explained the dual purpose of the amendment, while Vox councilor Iván Mora criticised the bundling of measures as political pressure.
