Ciudad Real fountain ‘La Talaverana’ targeted by vandals

The emblematic ‘La Talaverana’ fountain in Ciudad Real’s Parque Gasset has fallen victim to repeated acts of vandalism. Recent attacks in late September resulted in the destruction or theft of decorative elements, including ornamental balls from the pillars.

Local authorities, including Miguel Hervás, the Councilor for Security, Works, and Maintenance, have noted that ornamental animals such as frogs and ducks have also gone missing over time. These incidents follow a major restoration project completed last year to celebrate the fountain’s centenary, which had replaced original components to preserve the site.
