Ciudad Real hosts inaugural Sustainability Forum for businesses

The Chamber of Commerce of Ciudad Real held its first Sustainability Forum, titled ‘The New Business Leadership’, to address the challenges sustainability poses to the local business sector. The event brought together entrepreneurs, institutional representatives, and professionals to discuss water, energy, resources, and competitiveness.

José Luis Ruiz Heras, president of the Chamber, emphasized the need for sustainability to be approached from a business perspective, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He noted that for SMEs, sustainability involves improving resource management, reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and innovating to remain competitive in demanding markets.

The forum featured contributions from various professionals and organizations, including Repsol, Félix Solís Avantis, DIRSE, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Discussions also highlighted initiatives like the Sustainable SME Program, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which aims to help companies identify improvement opportunities.
