Ciudad Real Mayor Cañizares Calls Pandorga Festival the City’s Identity

Mayor Francisco Cañizares attended the Pandorga celebrations in Ciudad Real, describing the festivity as “the identity of an open, generous people who share their traditions.” He noted that the event, rooted in devotion to the Virgen del Prado, grows each year thanks to active participation, especially in the traditional and “Sin” Limoná contests, and emphasized the importance of youth involvement to preserve local customs.

Around 200 peñas – families, friends, work teams, sports groups and brotherhoods – took part in the contests. Cañizares highlighted the upcoming proclamation of Daniel García and Toni Ruiz as Pandorgos 2026 and praised the contributions of the Dulcinea and Damas as ambassadors of Ciudad Real’s traditions.
