Ciudad Real President Valverde Rebukes Hernando on Fire Brigade Aid

President of the Ciudad Real provincial council, Miguel Ángel Valverde, demanded that the regional government’s Minister of Infrastructure, Nacho Hernando, correct his statements that the council had refused to send fire brigades to the La Mierla forest fire in Guadalajara. Valverde called the remarks “irresponsible” and attributed them to a “complete lack of knowledge” of the operational capacity of the province’s fire‑and‑rescue service (SCIS).

Valverde emphasized that SCIS is ready to assist any emergency when its resources allow, noting the province’s large and dispersed territory, ongoing vacation periods, and a backlog of hiring that has limited staffing despite recent recruitments. He also criticised Hernando's handling of other regional issues such as roads and housing, urging the minister to focus on his own problems before questioning technical decisions.
