Ciudad Rodrigo hosts cross-border hiking event

More than one hundred hikers from Spain and Portugal participated in the fourth session of the ‘Rutas de la Raya Ibérica’ in Ciudad Rodrigo. This cross-border cooperation initiative aims to promote the natural and historical heritage of the border region, specifically highlighting the Duero Internacional environment.

The event, promoted by the Diputación de Salamanca and the Municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, combined physical activity with local gastronomy. Participants concluded the trek with a tasting of ‘huevos con farinato,’ a traditional dish provided by the Cofradía de Amigos del Farinato. Local officials, including Mayor Marcos Iglesias, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of administrative cooperation in revitalizing the border area.
