Ciudad Rodrigo mourns the death of José Manuel de Luis Esteban

José Manuel de Luis Esteban, a prominent figure in the administration and cultural development of Castilla y León, has passed away at the age of 87. His death occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

De Luis Esteban held several significant public roles, including Director General of Taxes and Financial Policy for the Junta de Castilla y León. He also served as the president of the Fundación Ciudad Rodrigo for seven years (2008–2015) and was a patron of the Fundación del Patrimonio Histórico de Castilla y León.

Recognized for his contributions to his hometown, he was named 'Hijo Predilecto' (Favorite Son) of Ciudad Rodrigo in December 2024. He was a decisive supporter of the Feria de Teatro de Castilla y León, an event he helped promote throughout his career. His legacy includes extensive work in regional economic development and the preservation of local cultural traditions.
