Ciudad Valles authorities respond to high-impact crimes and attack on security forces

Authorities in Ciudad Valles are addressing a rise in high-impact crimes, particularly during weekends. During the early hours of Saturday, a base of the State Civil Guard (Guardia Civil Estatal) in the La Hincada ejido was attacked with heavy-caliber gunfire, resulting in one officer being wounded. The officer was treated by Red Cross paramedics and is reported to be in stable condition.

Simultaneous incidents occurred in urban areas, where surveillance cameras on Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard and near the Valles-Rioverde highway were damaged. Additionally, spike strips were found on the Valles-Tampico and Valles-Rioverde highways.

Luis Ángel Contreras Malibrán, General Secretary of the City Council, stated that the municipal government is coordinating with security corporations through Peace and Security Tables. He noted that specific strategies remain confidential to protect ongoing investigations led by the Prosecutor's Office. A joint operation involving police and military forces was activated following the attacks, though no arrests have been confirmed.
