Ciudad Victoria authorities address land invasions and vacant lot risks

Authorities in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, have reported several urban management issues involving land use and public safety. City Councilor Alfredo Vanzzini Aguiñaga identified approximately 10 recent invasions of green areas by dozens of families seeking affordable land. Vanzzini warned against the unauthorized sale of lots and the practice of selling subdivided land without municipal permits, which can lead to legal complications for buyers.

Separately, City Hall Secretary Hugo Reséndez Silva issued a warning regarding neglected vacant lots. He noted that unmaintained properties accumulate debris and stagnant water, creating breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue. Additionally, overgrown vegetation in these lots has been identified as a potential security risk, as they can provide cover for criminal activities and compromise the safety of surrounding neighborhoods.
