Ciudad Victoria suspends construction projects for permit violations
The Ciudad Victoria City Council has suspended ten construction projects this year due to irregularities in permits. Mariana Sierra Barrera, the municipal secretary of Urban Development and Environment, reported that inspectors identify between 30 and 35 works weekly that lack proper licensing.
Violations include missing construction licenses, land-use permits, signage authorizations, and business operating licenses. Authorities warned that fines, calculated based on the Unit of Measure and Update (UMA), can reach up to 300,000 pesos.
The enforcement process involves notifying responsible parties to regularize their documentation within a set timeframe. If compliance is not met after subsequent notifications, municipal seals are placed on the sites to halt all work until the legal requirements are satisfied.
