Ciudadanos faces political collapse in Spain

The Spanish political party Ciudadanos has experienced a significant decline, transitioning from a major centrist force with 4 million votes and 57 seats in Congress to a state of political collapse. Following the resignation of Albert Rivera in 2019, the party saw its influence diminish under the leadership of Inés Arrimadas, eventually dropping to just 10 seats.

The party's decline was further cemented during the regional elections in Castilla y León in March, where candidate Mitzin Mariana Tráfaga failed to secure the necessary votes to maintain representation in the Cortes castellano-leonesas. While the party has largely faded from the political landscape, there are indications that a new centrist political movement may be forming to fill the void.
