Civic Engagement Badge to certify university volunteering in Italy

Starting in January, the Civic Engagement Badge will be introduced to certify university student volunteering. Promoted by ANDISU following a proposal by Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Italia, the digital recognition is being developed with technical support from CINECA and under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of University and Research.

The badge aims to formalize and provide visibility to the time and skills students dedicate to university associations. According to ANDISU President Emilio Di Marzio, the initiative seeks to fill a gap where student commitment often remains uncertified, allowing these experiences to be recognized on professional platforms like LinkedIn and in job applications.

The program focuses on validating soft skills acquired through associative work, such as teamwork, project coordination, problem-solving, and relationship management. The system includes two distinct types of badges: a Leadership badge for those in coordination roles and a Volunteering badge for general service.
