Civic engagement initiatives emerge in Spino d’Adda and Marano
In Spino d’Adda, social workers Aliné Bochmann and Jenny Peppucci have facilitated the third meeting of the Spazio Swap. Part of the RE-ACT project, this non-profit initiative allows community members to exchange items such as clothing, books, and household goods without monetary transactions. The project also encourages the exchange of professional skills, including sewing, gardening, and teaching. Managed by volunteers who are themselves recipients of social services, the initiative aims to foster community ties and empower participants to take active roles in local life.
In Marano, a new non-partisan civic movement titled ‘I Volenterosi – Riorganizziamo la speranza’ (The Volunteers – Reorganizing Hope) has been established. The movement seeks to promote active citizenship and rebuild community trust in a context marked by administrative challenges and previous municipal dissolutions due to organized crime infiltration. The group aims to provide an inclusive space for dialogue and concrete proposals to revitalize the city through collective civic commitment.
