Civil Defense Trains Residents in Francisco Beltrão for Protection Nuclei

The Municipal Coordination of Protection and Civil Defense (Compdec) in Francisco Beltrão held a training session at the Centro da Juventude in the Cidade Norte district, in partnership with the Paraná State Civil Defense. Volunteers and community representatives were instructed on establishing a Núcleo de Proteção e Defesa Civil (Nupdec) in every neighborhood association, covering both urban and rural areas.

The program taught first‑aid basics, risk‑area identification, self‑protection measures for storms, hail, floods and landslides, and evacuation procedures. Participants were also guided on enrolling residents in the official civil‑defense alert system, which sends free SMS warnings via the short code 40199. Coordinator Valdeci Priester stressed that organized, alert‑connected communities are better able to protect lives and limit damage from extreme weather events. Future sessions will bring practical drills and simulated evacuations to individual neighborhoods.
