Civil Hospital Karachi ordered to pay PKR 6.5 million for medical negligence
A court in Karachi has ordered Civil Hospital Karachi to pay PKR 6.5 million in compensation to Najma Rizwan following complications from an allegedly incorrect surgery. The Senior Civil Judge (South) directed the hospital to provide the payment within 60 days.
Rizwan was admitted to the hospital in November 2015 for childbirth surgery. Following her discharge, she experienced severe health complications, including abdominal pain and swelling. Subsequent medical assessments at a different facility indicated that the initial surgery performed at Civil Hospital Karachi was incorrect. The court ruled in favor of Rizwan after hearing arguments regarding medical negligence.
