Civil Movement URA demands review of Montenegro hunting rules

The Civil Movement URA has submitted a request to the Ministry of Agriculture for an urgent review and amendment of the Rulebook on hunting seasons in Montenegro. Ljiljana Jokić Kapa, a member of the URA Presidency, called for the public release of the data, expert analyses, and justifications used to establish the new regulations.

The political group expressed concern that the new Rulebook creates conditions for hunting species that were previously protected, including deer, chamois, and mouflon, with the season set to begin on October 1. URA officials noted that while the country struggles with poaching and habitat loss due to fires, the government is expanding commercial hunting days.

Furthermore, the party highlighted that the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as biologists and ecologists, were reportedly not consulted for expert opinions or consent before the Rulebook was signed by Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Joković and approved by Minister Ćulafić.
