Civil protection agencies conduct emergency response drills in Mali and Burkina Faso

Civil protection agencies in Mali and Burkina Faso are conducting large-scale emergency response simulations to enhance disaster preparedness.

In Mali, the General Directorate of Civil Protection, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), launched a three-day simulation exercise on the banks of the Niger River in Badalabougou. The drill focuses on managing river flooding and aims to test early warning procedures, operational coordination, and the effectiveness of contingency plans within the National Emergency Operations Center.

In Burkina Faso, the National Fire Brigade (BNSP) announced a national exercise to implement the ORSEC plan in Ouagadougou. The simulation is designed to prepare various emergency management actors and strengthen the reaction capacity of rescue services. Authorities have advised the public not to be alarmed by the visible movements and interventions of emergency services during the exercise.
