Civil rights organizations launch National Black Man Voter Day
A coalition of civil rights and voter engagement organizations has launched the inaugural National Black Man Voter Day. The initiative aims to mobilize more than 100,000 Black men through coordinated civic engagement, community conversations, and group voting activations.
The coalition includes the NAACP, the National Urban League, 100 Black Men of America, Black Men Vote, Woke Vote, and State of the People. Organizers plan to utilize faith leaders, fraternity members, students, and local organizers to facilitate voter education, caravans, and early-voting activities.
Leaders emphasize that the campaign is designed to build sustained political power beyond a single election cycle. NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson described the midterm election as a critical turning point for the community and democracy, while National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial noted the importance of connecting voters through established community institutions.
