Civil unrest and police clashes reported in France and Argentina

Widespread civil unrest has been reported in both France and Argentina, involving large-scale protests and significant police intervention.

In France, approximately 1,200 people were detained following demonstrations against the rising cost of living. The Ministry of the Interior reported that between 550,000 and 800,000 people participated in the mobilizations, including students, climate activists, and members of the yellow vest movement. At least 150 police and gendarme officers were injured during the clashes.

In Argentina, the Comisión Provincial por la Memoria has filed a criminal complaint against national government officials following a police operation during a federal university march in Buenos Aires. The organization reports that the intervention left over 550 people injured, alleging the disproportionate use of rubber bullets, water cannons, and tear gas. The protests were organized to demand the implementation of the University Financing Law following executive vetoes.
