Civitanova Marche authorities recover stolen church altar

Carabinieri investigators have recovered a liturgical altar that was stolen from a small church located on agricultural land in Civitanova Marche. The theft occurred in June, prompting a report from the landowner.

Following an investigation, authorities located the artifact in the province of Fermo. A search of a local shipping company led to the seizure of the altar, which has since been identified and returned to its rightful owner. A 42-year-old local man, known to law enforcement, has been charged with receiving stolen goods. The judicial authorities of Macerata and Fermo have been informed of the proceedings.
