Civitanova Marche begins nighttime mosquito disinfestation program

The Urban Hygiene Service of the Civitanova Marche municipality announced the start of a night‑time mosquito control operation. The first cycle runs from July 26‑27 through August 1, covering six zones: Civitanova Alta and industrial zones A and B, the city centre and Borgo Marinaro, Risorgimento, San Marone, Maranello and Santa Maria Apparente, and finally Fontespina and IV Marine. Spraying takes place between midnight and 06:00, weather permitting, using a medically approved insecticide that is declared non‑harmful to humans and pets, except for individuals with specific chemical allergies.

Residents are asked to stay indoors during the treatment hours, keep windows closed, avoid leaving clothes, food or drinks outdoors, and confine pets inside. Fruit and vegetables should be washed before consumption. The municipality also continues larvicidal actions by placing tablets in street drains to prevent mosquito larvae development. Citizens are urged to eliminate standing water in containers to support the effort.
