Civitanova Marche Hospital faces transition in Allergology Unit

The retirement of Dr. Stefano Pucci marks a transition period for the Allergology Unit at the Civitanova Marche Hospital. To ensure continuity of care, the AST of Macerata has decided to continue a temporary collaboration with Dr. Pucci, a move supported by the association ‘Noi Allergici’ Odv.

Since 1998, the unit has evolved from a small clinic into a complex specialized facility. In 2025, the department recorded over 24,600 outpatient services and more than 10,000 visits, attracting patients from outside the local region. The unit provides expertise in respiratory, food, and drug allergies, severe asthma, hymenoptera venom allergies, and rare conditions such as hereditary angioedema.

Stefano Torresi, president of ‘Noi Allergici’ Odv, emphasizes that the transition must serve as a bridge to transfer specialized skills to a new organizational structure. The association is calling on the AST of Macerata and the Marche Region to implement a structured strategy that includes appointing a highly qualified director, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and investing in technology to preserve the facility's status as a national reference center.
