Civitanova council fast-tracks €165k natural centre amid concerns

The municipal council of Civitanova approved the “Civitanova Accoglie” natural commercial‑centre project on 24 July 2026, after a protocol dated 21 July, with the regional grant deadline of 27 July, completing the process in three days.

The project is funded with €165,000 from the regional tender and involves three private firms—Ghibli Srl, Chalet Antonio and Pizzeria Ciak. Chalet Antonio is owned by city councilor Andrea Ruffini of Fratelli d’Italia. The selected site is at the beginning of the south seafront, outside the town’s main commercial area.

Manola Gironacci, president of the local association Viviamo Civitanova, accused the administration of lacking transparency and fairness, noting that the council had earlier announced it would not take part in the tender because of bureaucratic difficulties. Commerce assessor Roberto Pantella said he was unaware of the deliberation and had not promoted the request, although he acknowledged the political implications of the rapid approval.
