Civitavecchia activists conduct urban cleanup and demand better security
Activists from Riscossa Democratica, alongside EveraProject volunteers and local citizens, conducted an urban redevelopment initiative in Civitavecchia. The group initially planned to clean Piazza Verdi and the adjacent beach, but found that the area had been cleaned by authorities just prior to their arrival.
In response, the volunteers redirected their efforts to the railway station parking lot, a high-traffic area used by commuters, workers, and students. The group reported finding the lot in a state of neglect, describing it as an “open-air landfill.” After removing the waste, Riscossa Democratica submitted a formal proposal to the Municipal Administration.
The proposal calls for the immediate installation of video surveillance cameras and the enhancement of public lighting in the station parking area to deter illegal waste dumping and improve safety.
