Civitavecchia reopens Porta Marina gate to connect city and historic port

The Porta Marina pedestrian gate in Civitavecchia has been reopened to the public after being closed for several decades. The reopening establishes a direct connection between the city and the historic port, aiming to integrate the maritime area more closely with the urban fabric.

This initiative is part of a broader restructuring of the Civitavecchia port designed to reduce vehicular traffic within the historic port area and promote pedestrian use of the waterfront. With the activation of Porta Marina, there are now four pedestrian access points available to citizens: Fortezza, Scaletta, Porta Livorno, and the newly reopened Porta Marina.

The inauguration ceremony included officials such as Raffaele Latrofa, President of the Tyrrhenian Sea Central Northern Port System Authority, and Marco Piendibene, the Mayor of Civitavecchia.
