Vibo Valentia authorities investigate two separate deaths
Authorities in Vibo Valentia have launched two separate investigations following the deaths of a 42-year-old woman and an 87-year-old man.
The Procura della Repubblica di Vibo Valentia is investigating the death of Romania Piccolo, who died at the Jazzolino hospital following a severe hemorrhage. The hemorrhage occurred several days after she underwent abdominal surgery at a private clinic in Paola. Investigators have seized the body and medical records to determine the cause of the bleeding and whether the surgical procedure played a role in her death.
In a separate case, investigators are looking into the death of Antonio Reggio, an 87-year-old former teacher. Reggio died after spending three weeks in the hospital following an incident in his home where a caregiver allegedly attempted to perform an unauthorized surgical procedure with a kitchen knife. The caregiver, who claimed she believed the man had an animal in his abdomen, faces charges related to the attack.
