CJ Darcl Logistics teams with NHEV on electric freight corridor pilot
CJ Darcl Logistics Limited and the National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 1 2026 under India's Ease of Doing Business programme. The agreement aims to develop charging, battery‑swapping and solar‑powered infrastructure and to operate a fleet of heavy electric trucks on the Bengaluru‑Chennai corridor, designated as a pilot route for scalable freight operations across the country's forthcoming e‑highways.
The partnership will also test an NCR trailer‑exchange model at Delhi’s borders to enable smooth diesel‑to‑electric transitions, and it seeks to improve fleet utilisation, cut freight emissions and provide a blueprint for nationwide expansion. CJ Darcl President Nikhil Agarwal said the collaboration is intended to demonstrate how India’s logistics sector can lead the global energy transition, while NHEV programme director Abhijeet Sinha highlighted CJ Darcl’s scale as essential for evaluating heavy‑EV deployment aligned with infrastructure rollout.
