CJ Logistics and RLWRLD partner to develop logistics-specialized Physical AI
CJ Logistics and Physical AI firm RLWRLD have entered into a strategic partnership to develop AI models specifically optimized for the logistics industry. Following a previous equity investment by CJ Logistics in RLWRLD last November, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance from investment to the practical application of technology in real-world logistics environments.
A primary focus of the collaboration is the joint development of a Robot Foundation Model (RFM). This model is designed to allow robots to integrate visual, linguistic, vocal, and sensor data to autonomously perceive, judge, and act within their surroundings. CJ Logistics will provide extensive operational data from its parcel, fulfillment, and cold chain sectors to help design and verify automation requirements, while RLWRLD will lead the development of the RFM and Physical AI software.
The companies plan to conduct Proof of Concept (PoC) testing, such as verifying tasks like sorting waybills, to refine the technology. Their ultimate goal is the commercialization of Logistics as a Service (LaaS) and the development of general-purpose logistics humanoids capable of performing continuous tasks like picking, sorting, and inspection. CJ Logistics has already begun field implementation, recently deploying two dual-arm humanoid robots at a logistics center in Yongin to handle buffer material input.
