CJ Olive Young introduces AI-powered multilingual shopping assistant

CJ Olive Young has rolled out an AI‑driven “AI Shopping Assistant” in several flagship stores, enabling foreign shoppers to interact with a conversational avatar in eight languages. The kiosk‑based system provides product descriptions, stock checks, location guidance and personalised skin‑care recommendations, as well as routine services such as tax‑refund instructions, all without needing staff assistance.

The solution, developed by ESTsoft using its Persona Interactive AI avatar platform and the AURA recommendation engine, also feeds real‑time usage data to a dashboard that shows customer dwell time, language‑specific queries and recommendation uptake, helping store managers optimise operations. Olive Young officials said the service targets the growing number of overseas visitors attracted by K‑beauty, noting that “the increase in foreign tourists and interest in K‑beauty makes AI‑based store services essential for a seamless shopping experience.” ESTsoft’s CEO added that the collaboration aims to strengthen “physical AI” capabilities in retail worldwide.
