Cockroach Janta Party leaders released from Delhi detention

Leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), including founder Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, have been released from detention in New Delhi. A court ordered their release on the condition that they maintain public order and do not breach the peace for one year. The leaders were originally detained upon arrival at the airport on Saturday during a crackdown intended to prevent protests at Jantar Mantar.

The CJP movement is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protests center on allegations of irregularities regarding a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which reportedly resulted in the removal of approximately 130 million names. While the Election Commission maintains the revision is a legitimate process to remove deceased or relocated voters, protesters argue it threatens democratic participation.

Following their release, CJP leaders have vowed to continue their demonstrations, rejecting claims that they signed any bond to cease protesting. Meanwhile, the Congress-led INDIA bloc has announced plans to march to the Supreme Court to address similar concerns regarding electoral transparency.
