Clackamas County man faces charges after 200-round SWAT standoff

Erik Gordon Shunn, 53, is being held without bail following a violent standoff in unincorporated Clackamas County, Oregon. Shunn was arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court on nine criminal counts, including attempted murder, attempted assault, weapons offenses, and interfering with a peace officer.

The incident began when deputies responded to reports of an armed man firing at arborists working in the area. Investigators believe Shunn fired more than 200 rounds during the confrontation, targeting both the tree workers and a police surveillance drone deployed to locate him. Authorities released footage showing Shunn firing upward at the hovering drone.

During the standoff, Shunn reportedly used a tractor to knock down trees in an attempt to create a barricade. The confrontation ended when a SWAT team used an armored vehicle to pin the tractor Shunn was using to flee, allowing deputies to take him into custody. No injuries were reported among law enforcement, civilians, or the suspect.
