Claire Danes reflects on 30 years since Romeo + Juliet premiere

The film “William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet” marks its 30th anniversary since its world premiere. The movie, directed by Baz Luhrmann, featured Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio as the iconic on-screen couple.

Despite their onscreen chemistry, Danes revealed in W Magazine that she had a brief crush on DiCaprio during filming but found it problematic for their professional relationship. Off-camera, the two reportedly had little in common; Danes described DiCaprio as “immature” due to his constant pranks, while he viewed her as too serious.

Danes has been married to Hugh Dancy since 2009. Additionally, she noted that she turned down a role in the film “Titanic” that would have seen her play the character Rose, a decision she later expressed regret over.
