Claire Denis to direct Miu Miu Women’s Tales short film
French filmmaker Claire Denis has been selected to direct the 32nd installment of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales film series. Her short film, titled ‘Avec Kim’, is scheduled to premiere on September 5 during the Venice Film Festival as part of the Giornate degli Autori parallel section.
Initiated in 2011 by Miuccia Prada, the Women’s Tales project commissions female filmmakers to create short films, providing them with total creative freedom while integrating the brand’s collections into the character costumes. Denis joins a roster of previous directors including Agnès Varda, Alice Diop, and Ava DuVernay.
Denis is widely recognized for her influential work in contemporary auteur cinema, with a filmography that explores themes of desire, alienation, and colonialism. Her notable works include ‘Chocolat’, ‘Beau Travail’, and ‘Stars at Noon’, the latter of which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
