Clallam County auditor candidates debate ahead of November election

Candidates for Clallam County auditor participated in a forum hosted by the Port Angeles Business Association to present their platforms ahead of the November election.

Incumbent Shoona Riggs, who has worked in county auditor offices for 36 years and was first elected in 2015, emphasized her extensive experience in elections, recording, and licensing. Her challenger, Virginia Shogren, a private practice attorney, highlighted her work on election integrity and patent cases, arguing that the auditor’s office manages sensitive functions that represent a potential single point of failure in local government.
