Clamart: Handcuffed suspect freed during firework attack on police vehicle
In Clamart, a handcuffed suspect was freed during a chaotic incident involving a municipal police vehicle. The event occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning after officers attempted to apprehend a young man following an urban motocross stunt.
A group of approximately fifteen youths reportedly attacked the police vehicle using firework mortars. One projectile entered the vehicle's cabin, causing a violent explosion and thick smoke that disoriented the two officers on duty. During the confusion, the assailants extracted the handcuffed suspect, who fled the scene. Both officers sustained injuries, specifically tinnitus, resulting from the proximity of the explosions. An investigation is currently underway to identify the suspects.
In a separate incident in Montpellier, a suspect involved in the robbery and assault of a 38-year-old woman managed to escape a police vehicle after being apprehended. The individual, a man in his twenties from Nîmes, was eventually recaptured by reinforcements after a crowd of youths hindered the initial arrest.
